I AM Hope Café A coalition of local faith and service organizations run the “I AM Hope Café”, serving meals to Brandon’s poor and homeless residents out of facilities at First Baptist Church of Mango. The meals are donated and prepared by Metropolitan Ministries; although salads, desserts and sandwiches-to-go are supplied by volunteers. The Café serves hot meals four days a week from 5:30 – 7:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00 – 11:00am. Service Opportunities: Volunteers from our church serve at the Café the first Saturday of each month; salads, desserts and sandwiches are welcome any day; medical personnel, hair stylists and others are invited to share their professional skills. LifeCare of Brandon (formerly Brandon Care Pregnancy Center) LifeCare of Brandon is located on our property, ministering to girls and women in the midst of an unexpected pregnancy. The staff and trained volunteers provide free pregnancy testing, counseling, referrals for government services, support groups and training for teens to help reduce the number of unexpected pregnancies. L.I.S.T. Volunteers provide no-cost or low-cost minor home and auto repairs to those who are on a limited income. The Limited Income Service Team (L.I.S.T.) also provides referrals to outside organizations that can assist with more involved or special needs that are beyond the capabilities of the volunteers.
